Travelling to Tierra del Fuego, the southernmost territory in the world, is a beautiful and transcendental adventure. A visit to Tierra del Fuego, Ushuaia and its unique surroundings means the possibility of practicing different sports such as: trekking, horse-riding, 4x4 overlanding, as well as diving, canoeing, fishing or skiing.
For those who love walking, Tierra del Fuego National Park offers half-day excursions, which combine trekking in the forests and climbing to strategic points from where the best views of the Beagle Channel and its bays can be captured.
Going through almost inaccessible roads or venturing to places where roads do not even exist is the proposal of these excursions, definitely a different way of getting in full contact with nature. The cost of the excursions not only covers transfer and food, but also a tourist guide who will significantly enrich your trip.
The traveler can also find some non-conventional excursions. The most recommended one is to Martial Glacier, which is located in a hotel area and is the most important drinking water source in Ushuaia.
During winter, that area is the alpine skiing center while in summer it is an excellent place to make short trekking outings (one afternoon or one day) walking on ice and admiring the incredible Andorra Valley, which is located north of the city, parallel to the Channel, behind the mountain range that surrounds it.
Regarding its cold waters, the tourist can become acquainted with the submarine world helped by a professional diver during day and night as well. But if you wish to sail in those calm waters by canoe, you can do it for one or two-hour trips accompanied by professional guides. And if you are a fishing-fan, you may well know that trouts in Ushuaia are usually a size never seen in other parts of the world.
