Customs, immigration and sanitary checks are carried out by the staff of the National Border Guard. Icalma Pass It is located 315 km from Neuquén and 143 km from Temuco (Chile), with the following road indications: Neuquén-Primeros Pinos: paved road (236 km). Primeros Pinos-Icalma (79 km) volcanic sand. Provincial Route Nº 13. Icalma: 74 km of gravel. Cunco-Temuco: 60 km paved road. Pino Hachado Pass From Neuquén one gets there by Route Nº 22, going through Zapala and Las Lajas. From Las Lajas, a 40-km paved road, then a wide, finely graveled road. From Chile, you can go by Lincura (at 22 km from the pass), Lonquimay (99 km) and Curacatín (136 km). You can also go by train. Tromen (or Mamuil Malal) Pass At 1,300 meters above sea level From Junín de los Andes, you get there on Provincial Route Nº 60, on a fine, consolidated gravel track. 454 km from Neuquén and 64 km from Junín de los Andes. From this point one can get to Pucón (Chile) on the shore of the Villarrica lake. Hua-Hum Pass You get there by San Martín de los Andes and then taking Provincial Route Nº 48. Cardenal Samoré (ex Puyehue ) Pass You get there from Villa La Angostura (545 km from Neuquén), along National Route Nº 231 Total distance from Villa la Angostura: 46 km. El Rincón international border post stretch, drive carefully due to the ice, mud and potholes in the roadway. Bear in mind that it is a border zone and there is snow accumulated at the roadside. The El Rincón - Lake Espejo section must be driven carefully, with obligatory use of chains, and mostly in the middle of the road due to occasional rockfalls and road repair. Timetable: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. 
BY BUS From Buenos Aires To cover the Buenos Aires - San Martín de los Andes route, you will need around 21 traveling hours (including stops). All the bus companies supply their units with bar and bathroom, but some also offer sleeping-seats plus hot and cold food served on board, enabling one to reach San Martín de los Andes non-stop, reducing travel time and increasing comfort. The following companies have permanent frequencies and additional services, but as their departure times and ticket charges can be changed without notice, we are not publishing them and recommend they be checked directly with each company.
