HOW TO GET THERE
Getting to Puerto Madryn from any point of the Argentine Republic is a very easy task. There is a wide range of air and land transport services. Whether by car, bus or plane, the traveler will find him/herself invaded by a feeling of eagerness to reach this Eden-like spot where stress will disappear as one's soul mingles with the peace of nature.
For car travelers, the access from the north of the country is by National Route Nº 3, that joins Buenos Aires with the whole of Patagonia, up to Tierra del Fuego.
In the Chubut area, this road closely follows the coast, enabling easy and immediate access to different beaches and communities.
Please remember that as from Sierra Grande, in the province of Río Negro, fuel prices are cut by half.
You should also be aware that on the stretch of road between Sierra Grande and Arroyo Verde, some 50 kilometers approximately, the road surface is in extremely poor condition and one should drive very carefully. Make sure not to drive at over 60 kilometers per hour.
A trip from the north along this road will allow you to make stops on the way to visit many hidden corners of "unexplored" Patagonia:
The Viedma-Carmen de Patagones Area, with its beautiful beaches and interesting historical tours.
San Antonio Oeste and Las Grutas, where the traveler can take a refreshing dip in its pleasantly warm, clear waters, and visit the deep-water port.
Sierra Grande, where visitors can be shown around the old coal mines of "Yacimientos Carboníferos Fiscales", with options for all ages, as well as adventure options for the bold.
And, finally, at the far end, lovely Puerto Lobos, where one can fish and collect shellfish in a secluded environment.
From Buenos Aires, one takes National Route Nº 3, totally paved. The trip is 1,389 kilometers long.
From Trelew you take a short stretch along National Route Nº 25, up to the crossing with National Route Nº 3. From there you have 67 kilometers to Puerto Madryn.
From Rawson you do a short stretch along National Route Nº 25 up to the crossing with National Route Nº 3, heading towards Madryn. The distance is also about 67 kilometers in this case.
From Comodoro Rivadavia there are 450 kilometers to Puerto Madryn. This can be done along National Route Nº 3.
